Alvor is a portuguese village that belongs to the council of Portimao.
It has an area of 15,25 km2 and 4.977 inhabitants (2001). Density: 326,3 inhab/km2. It is a place of fishing and sea traditions and deep religious belifs with its church and highly decorated main entrance.
Nowadays the main economical activities are traditional fishing, restaurants, commerce and tourism. Alvor is well known for its beaches and the village is situated close to the mouth of the river. Currently the main industry is tourism.
